PEDL 133 location map. Click for larger version in popup window UK hydrocarbon licence PEDL 133 is located in the Clackmannan Coalfield of Central Scotland, approximately 20 miles from both Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Airth 6 CBM well. Click for larger version in popup window Composite's G-55 rig at the Airth 6 well, close to the M9 motorway. The low height of the rig is seen in comparison with the adjacent mobile phone mast (behind the motorway gantry).
G-55 drilling rig. Click for larger version in popup window The G-55 rig is a modern design incorporating the latest drilling technology. Its automated systems require only a small crew and minimal maintenance during drilling operations.
Recovery of rock core. Click for larger version in popup window A cylindrical sample of rock (known as a 'core') recovered from a depth of 3010ft (917m) below ground. Geochemists are examining an 8ft (2.4m) thick seam of coal contained in the core before its removal to the laboratory for analysis.
