Facilities Infrastructure
In order to link a cluster of wells to a central hub, underground facilities are required. These are most likely to include:
- Water Pipelines: Water pipelines will be required to safely and efficiently evacuate water produced from the wellbores to a water treatment facility prior to licenced discharge.
- Gas Pipelines: Gas pipelines will also be required to evacuate gas from the site to central gathering points where it can be supplied to local and national users. Pipelines from individual well sites are not likely to require to be pressured, however pressured pipelines may be required when supplying users or the national gas transportation network. This is governed by Her Majesty's Pipeline Inspectorate.
- Communications Cabling: Cabling for remote management of computer equipment will require to be installed. These may be supplied by overhead or underground methods.
- Electrical Cabling: The production pumps are likely to be run by electric motors and it will be necessary to bring cabling to the individual well sites by overhead or underground methods.
- Operators may also require the building of facilities for gas processing and water treatment. These may form the basis of individual applications separate to the borehole drilling applications.
